Vista Sp1 Stand Alone Installer 434mb

I am so happy with SP1 and Vista now!! Media Player 11 is fast as sh!t now! Searching through my music was slow before b/c i have over 16gb of music and now it's prob as fast as winamp. Crazy! Thats all i care about.

Microsoft added some fixes in as expected to address the complaints they heard about WMP 11 as well as other things in Vista itself. They named them security fixes rather then bug repairs for obvious reasons there. :P

I just noticed how much less memory my Vista uses after installing SP1. At idle it uses about about 200-300MB less. Anyone else see this as well?

Wow with WMP11, Firefox, and Azureus I have 1.1gb memory used. But it takes alot for my ram usage to go up more.

If you watch the performance meter in the task manager don't be surprised to see it high once. When you go to look again it will be different since that will always fluxuate. Gee? usage was 688 now 645mb.

I noticed how much less memory mine was using at idle, not running multiple apps. It was significantly lower.

well my system seems to be using 100mb less idle since the sp1 install,First when i installed it slowed my system down but it seems nice and fast again now :)

I ran my vista laptop yesterday and it didn't pick up any updates...is this coming in stages, or is there a reason why it didnt' show up in automatic updates?

Any service pack is a rolled up bundled of all updates released upto that point plus some additional items included. IE 7 will be seen in SP3 apparently since that is now an automatic update for XP there.

IE 8 as well as the latest Apple Safari 3.1 and new FireFox3 along with other browsers will now conform to a new universal standard for browsers as the word goes on that. What is good about SP1 when saved to a folder is when a need to reinstall Vista takes place all of the updates released from last year to SP1 are rolled up in one bundle.

SP1 is a rolled up bunch of the updates released over the last year. Thats why the download is 434mb in size instead of seeing each added to the list while at the update site.

Once you have it on go there and select the custom not express option and review the update history option in the left column seen there. That will open up a page displaying a long list of security updates as well as things for Windows Defender, WMP 11, etc. you would accumilate over a period of time plus some new ones just added in.
