VISTA Task manager doesn't come

Hello,

I rebooted my laptop (VISTA) after the Vista updates of 17 aug 11 and since I cannot launch the task manager anymore. Some other programs don’t function anymore: VLC, Google Earth, Windows Mail, Firefox.

I tried to uninstall these updates but in vain.

I made a Housecall scan but it didn’t find anything. I also made an AVIRA scan but didn’t find anything either.

I tried to run gpedit.msc but it answers that Windows cannot find it, check if you enter the right name and try again…

Does someone has a clue of what happen ?

Do a system restore back prior to that day and see if everything is back to normal.
