Vista upgrade - problem converting

I'm trying to upgrade my operating system from XP to Vista and during the install I couldn't select the upgrade option. It said:

Upgrade has been disabled.
To upgrade Windows, your hard disk partition must be formatted as NTFS. To reformat the partition, cancel the installation, open the Command Prompt window, and then type: convert c: /fs:ntfs

When I did this in the Command Prompt and pressed Enter it said this:

The type of file system is FAT32.
Enter current volume label for drive C:

I don't know what is meant by this and what I have to enter to complete the conversion.

I would be most grateful if someone could assist!

Chances are you have no Volume label for drive C:
When it prompts you again, you can enter nearly anything, it is for identification purposes only. Try inputting your name like "Dave".

I've tried what you suggested and it said 'An incorrect volume label was entered for this drive.' :( Is there any way I can find out what the volume label is for drive C on my computer?

My Computer/right click on C:/properties and at the top of the General tab will be a volume label if you have one.

TFT, thank you so much! My volume label is called 'ACER' (make of my laptop). I'll run the Vista setup again and hopefully it'll install fine now :)
