so im planning an upgrade for vista so far ive gotta buy new mother board athlon 64 dual core processor new power supply to power the 8800GTS i am gonna order and of course 1 gig RAM. im pretty sure this will cope with the DX10 that vista will put out am i right???

and also this is my main question.

Can i buy the OEM version of vista ultimate and install it on my current HDD that allready has XP home edition on it or will i have to format the HDD or buy a new HDD?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

it should work reqment to run vista is 512mb and 30 or high gb hd

Nx Question you will have to repartition your hard drive

That will run Vista fine, but if you want to game on Vista, 2GB of RAM is recommended.

Yes you can buy an OEM and install it over your current XP, or reformat and install it. You dont need to buy a new hard drive.

Thanks for your responses thats awesome =]

but now i need to know exactly how to format my hard drive, can someone point me in the direction of some sort of guide you might know of?

Thanks in advance.

if you buy the retail version of vista when you install it you get the choice of 32bit or 64 bit ,If you buy oem you will not have that choice on the disk you will have to choose 32 or 64 bit when you buy it.

When you boot from the Vista DVD, you have the option to format it there.

i am going to get 1 gig to start with then upgrade later on once i get my first DX10 game. i think it should cope with games like COD2 with just a gig. but we'll just have to wait and see.
