Hi, I'm new here.
I've been having a this problem for a while, hopefully someone here can help me figure it out.
Specs
3 or 4 Gigs RAM
Asus Wifi P5k Deluxe motherboard
8800gts 512
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Initially I have a hard drive with XP as the OS. Since I was running low on space, I threw in anohter hard drive, except with a new copy of Vista 32 installed.
The problem is, whenever I play a video file, the picture on the bottom and top edges would be distorted or displaced from the rest of the picture.
(see attachment)
I discovered this problem would only be present in Vista unless Windows media player was used. Then i would have no problems, however Windows media player is not a fix, since I prefer other media players. In otherwords, I would have this problem when I used any otehr media player while on Vista 32. No problems on XP though.
I have all the codecs installed, video card drivers updated, and all hardware connections are secure. Furthermore, the problem is present on different resolutions and different monitors via different forms of wired connections.
Here are some bench marks i did.
Furmark
1610X1050
FPS 7-13 AVG 8
Start Temp 60C
Final Temp 81C
Max Temp 81C
Can you guys help me determine whether this a hardware or software problem? If the former, do i need a new GPU? If the latter, how do i fix it?
