Vista Vs XP:confused:

woo, got a little out of hand there guys, anyway thanks for the info. I pretty much just want the OS to run and not break down, i rly could care less about "Fancy" add ons that vista dose, im jsut concerend that i will have a hard time installing vista cuz this is my 1st "real" build. I say real cuz i have built comps along time ago ( lol 3 yrs) and im jsut concerend about Installing S*** on my comp, i will have no prob building but i just dont want to pay xxx ( think its $179.99) on vista when i no Xp will work for olny $89.99. So i dont know what one i want to do beacause im familliar with Xp, and Vista is like a whole new world. So what do you guys truly think about Vista to a new builder. I mean what " IF " (knock on wood) Something goes wrong, i have no idea what to do. i mean im "new" to computer hardware. So just give me a noob reconmandation to which OS to use. If it matters im running GeForce 8800ultra, Gygabyte MB p135, Intel q6600. So please help a noob out

You're obviously building a gaming rig. If you want DirectX 10 graphics, you have to install Vista. If you don't care about DX10, get XP. You shouldn't have problems installing Vista with new hardware. I didn't.

god thats a long time...
an afterthought is that well, microsoft will still be supporting xp, but what if they cant get other companies to optimize their software for vista and xp as well? idk its really a crap shoot as to what is the best route

hate to burst ya bubble but i payed about 120 shipped for vista home premium...
eh dont listen to me im a biased vista fanboy american... dont get much more discredited then that!

Well, Thanks for all your posts. I order Xp, let me tell you why:
1- Im running XP now and im familliar with it
2- im a noob, so i dont know how to correct a serious problem that might accur in vista
3- I will do some more "reashearch" so later down on the road i will be able to partition a HD and install Vista.
4- Plus i realy like XP and see no need for vista Right Now, but as games start to come out with direct X10 then i will have to install vista, But as for right no im ok with XP
Once again thanks for all the post guys, i gusse it comes down to personal choice ( am i correct? ) i would just prefrere Xp over vista right now. Sorry if i wasted your time but all who said go with vista had some good points and bad, and who said Xp had good points and bad. Anyway i order my new parts( WOOOOOOOOOT) hopfuly they should arrive on Saturday, dose UPS/FedEx ship on sundays? I just cant wait!!!!! once again thanks for posting your oppions.
