lately when i go into my documents, and start going from folder to folder, windows explorer stops working after a minute, and has to restart. it doesnt matter if i am in my documents, my pics, my music, etc. also when i go to upload something to my email or something similar, it shuts down firefox due to the same problem. any ideas?

This problem is due to a corrupt file in a particular folder. There can be more than one specific files, which may cause the problem. I had a same problem. One of my music files was causing explorer to restart. So I found the file and deleted the parent directory (including all other files). I had a backup so it was no problem for me.

Try to identify, going into which folders causes the explorer to restart. If u dont have any important files in it, delete it.

One method i tried was to open the folder from an external program, like VLC(file->open files) or Daemon tools (mount image->browse). In this way i was able to open the folders which earlier cannot be opened by explorer. From there, u can copy ur important files one by one, and safely back up in another folder.

could it be possible that my theme could of caused it? i just googled it, and someone said it could be the theme.

Maybe, i dont know.

Well, i tried these methods and got rid of the problem.
By the way, have u tried opening the folders in safe mode??

Try in safe mode, also, if you know how, try navigating to the folder from the command prompt and displaying a list. If there are no issues, try uninstalling/disabling your theme temporarily.
