I have an Acer Aspire 3000. When I put vista in the laptop it comes to a screen that says windows files are loading. Once its done the computer goes off then comes back on and starts the same thing over and over again. Does anybody know whats going on here??

do you have it on boot from cd if so when you restart make sure you don't press anything and have you tried installing it while using the pc (when its fully loaded)? if not try that

i have ubuntu right now. neither way works. is there anything else i can try?? ive also tried clearing my HD with dariks boot. this did not work either.

are you sure that your hardware is compatible with the version of vista you're trying to install? and make sure you format the HD with the vista disk, it should have that option near the beginning, i suggest doing the full format not quick, be sure your bios settings will boot from the HD if you don't press the key to boot from the DVD, try and check these things...you shouldn't need a separate format disk as vista should have formatting tools on its disk...just be sure the partition you're installing to is formatted in ntfs.
