Vista WTF? Mass Registry File Fail?

I logged onto my computer about 2 days ago, only to get a black screen that said a registry file is either broken or missing, and i need to repair Vista. Then, i log on, only to find out my friend, who is also using Vista 64-bit, had the exact same problem, and that very day as well. I was wondering if anyone else had this happen. I thought it was a virus at first, but with my friend having the exact same problem on the same day, it was just too much of a coincidence. Maybe a hotfix was implemented and failed. I have no idea.

Anyone else have this problem and have any idea what it was?

I'm running Vista 64 bit and have had no issues. You can try a registry cleaner and see what results you get.
