The default security settings in IE 7 will block things like unsigned active x controls and plugins. You have to go into that tab of the tools>internet options and go through each of the sections being internet, local intranet, trusted sites, restricted sites in order to enable the items that don't see "not secure" next to them. Otherwise you will see a security bar appear each time for clicking the allow or install something message.
