Vista..

I use Vista Home Premium and like it a lot. I would suggest Vista. The only compatibility issue I have had is the windows help files cannot open on Vista (there is a new file type). However there is a fix to this problem that can be downloaded from Microsoft. After installing this I had no compatibility issues.

Finally got my new rig running :) wow what a difference. lol Installed vista..not bad except nothing working rofl. Mobo driver cd didnt work, gpu cd didnt work. Pretty much everything kinda useless to have the cds if you have vista haha but no problems just had to install drivers from nvidia. Overall am happy with it since there hasnt been anything that given me a headache just simple things to fix.

i had no problems with vista. . No driver errors. i dont like Xp . To slow and it breaks down on me all the time. ill i do is work on Visual basic projects and more. thats about it .

i bought my pc and got a free upgrade to vista aswell as xp media center and i gotta say that i hated vista when i installed it. i had it installed for a day before i got so damn pissed off with it that i went back to xp.

it made my comp run so slow, even for simple things, and xp would always do everything i wanted straight away. hell, it took 10 seconds from the moment i double clicked a song in media player to the moment it actually started playing, even if that was the first thing i did after booting up.

vista just ran so slow for me and because of that i hated it.

P.S. all this was even with the aero interface not on.

EDIT: ive actually come across loads of people who have tried it and had the same problems. alot of people ive talked to have hated it.

With 2gb of ram installed here the main problem is as it would be for any new version of Windows namely needing a Vista version of the software used along with the ready to download driver support. ATI so far has beated NVidia to the punch line there. Meanwhile others like Creative lacking EAX support even for their latest model cards is likening itself to another ME flop for Microsoft. The lags you seem to have with WMP haven't been seen here.

Grrrrrrrrr!

is is just me or is Vista a piece of (insert expletive)?

i just scraped together my hard earned cents to get a new pc......mainly to use for music and design/art stuff...with the new pc coming with Vista....and i find have discovered that VISTA doesnt like ITUNES or PHOTOSHOP...... no itunes i can deal with....but when i find out PHOTOSHOP doesnt work im thinking WTF??????

Iv installed PHOTOSHOP fine, and i can open the program all good.... but then a charming little pop up tells me i can not use photoshop as i dont have the proper priviledges and that i need to log in as an administrator to have these priviledges.....my response to that : i am the f***ing administrator!!!!!!!!!

so i try to troubleshoot and nothing works...even though im no computer genius i follow everything to a T....nothing. then in a last ditch attempt i start googling to find a solution.....and nada...just the same stuff.. the sad thing is i even rang up the computer place i bought it from and pleaded with them to give me XP and they tell me its been recalled so nope i cant have it. Now im shitting myself as my rent is being paid by my art jobs and without photoshop im screwed, screwed, screwed.

so my question after that little tirade is: is there anyone out there that can help meeeeeeeeeeeee???????

would be forever grateful!
cheers

Another little tip for running programs and even games on a newer OS is to select the "run in XP mode" option seen in the compatibility tab. Windows then is supposed to? create a virtual environment for the older version. Just don't count on that too much. One way to avoid problems when one version won't run this or that is called dual booting two different versions of Windows.
