it was when i talked to you before about it because i was using Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware which i suppose was causing a major bottleneck as it was resource hungry and also i had dodgy graphics drivers which caused me problems and i gave up on because theres was just too many problems at the time..but i dual booted my system again with vista today and installed avast antivirus and its alot better than i thought it would be :)

and theres been quite a few updates so i should say theyve fixed some bugs or something causing alot of the problems.

i still use Xp now mainly for gaming because if i game on vista i get lower FPS obviusly and i want to get as many FPS as i can out of this 9600 lol.
 
I think it's a good OS, but theres no need for me to have it now. I have the full version of Vista Business, but until I need to play DX10 games, or need to have Vista, i'll stick with XP.

I bought a laptop with Home Basic on it and got the upgrade for Home Premium, also have Buisness as well if it wasn't for the difficulty chaging back to Windows XP Pro I would do it but because of the difficulty with changing OS's to an older one. I'm staying with Vista.

- Like but would change back to Windows XP for improved Performance.
 
HATE!!!

Had nothing but problems :mad:

1) When I go to play Oblivion I get a message saying "Oblivion has stopped working" then "Oblivion needs to close". So now Ive downloaded a thing called Oldblivon which allows me to play Oblivion but the graphics are worse and sometimes it starts to get a little slow.

2) I downloaded MSN Messenger but when I open it, after I put in my password and click enter I get a message saying "MSN Messenger has stopped working" then "MSN Messenger needs to close" Ive found out that if I right click on the MSN Messenger icon and click "run as administrator", it will work fine.

3) Ive picked up a virus or something a few days ago (something called "W32.Myzor.FK@yf" as the warning message calls it) (Ive posted about it in the Internet Security part of this forum) and around the same time, another problem started that didnt happen before. As soon as my laptop gets to the desktop, I get a message saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working" then "Windows Explorer is restarting".
Then my screen sort of flashes. After about 3-5 seconds, the message comes up again and repeats the process over and over and over.
When the screen flashes, most programs that where open / opening will close and if i try to open them again, as soon as the messages have come up and the screen flashes, they close again(the only two I know to stay open so far is Norton Internet security and Internet Explorer) and 3-5 seconds isnt alot of time for me to do anything unless i want to go into Norton or come into Internet Explorer.
Ive also posted about this problem but was told by someone that they dont think its due to the virus but to a software problem.

If anyone could provide any info on my last problem / have experienced this / know how to get rid of this anoying problem, ANY help / info would be very much appreciated as I know next to nothing about computers.
 
in love wit Ultimate , bc it was free and , u guys just dont know how to work it u just need all the patchtes and drivers for /e u need to install, u jsut need to find them , aint that hard......... or u jsut have a really crappy computer.

jeez evryone always bashes vista, but microsoft has pretty much gotten evrything fixed now. The only program that i have come across that ABSOLUTLY could not get working is AVG anti-spyware. besides that almost evrything went in perfect, even better than XP. the only problem with vista is the system requirements, but if u dont meet the specs....then dont get it.
 
Everyone says if your comp dont meet the specs with Vista, then dont get it.
But Ive only got an Acer Aspire 5630 laptop that I'm guessing is pretty shit, but it came with Vista already installed.
So does my laptop meet the specs or not? Because I'm having a few problems on Vista
 
I've got an Acer Aspire 5100 and vista's bulk hasslowed it down. most free cleaner programs such as adaware aren't compatible with it. and the security features are bunk and annoying, it works as a liability scapegoat for MS. Most drivers aren't compatible with it unless you load them from manufacturers websites. My lexmark printer's been a pain in the neck to program to vista. It's got few benefits to its worth. I don't hate vista, I hate MS for making the pile.

How much RAM do you have? If it has under 1GB then I wouldnt even recommend having Vista installed.
 
So far, I like Vista alot. The install was really nice. No nag screens every 10 minutes like XP.

So far I've played Rainbow Six Vegas, Battlefield Vietnam, SecondLife and PokerStars in Vista with no issues.

The interface is very nice, and the OS feels a lot more secure. It's always asking permission for an app to do this or that, and that is a little aggravating, but if it keep viruses from running rampant, then I can deal with it.
