Vista's auto defrag

Alright, for some reason vista always wants to defrag itself, even though scheduling is turned off. Everytime it starts defragging on its own, everything freezes up. Also, I've tried leaving it to defrag on its own, and it took more than 24 hours.

Can someone tell me how to turn this off?

I've already done that but it still starts by itself.

You sure it's defragging and not some other activity? There's a lot of 'em. Could be Indexing. Could be Windows Defender. Could be Superfetch. Norton 360 is a known culprit; uninstalling it solves that problem.

Well Task Manager calls it "DfrgNtfs.exe" with a description of "Disk Defragmenter NTFS Module".

its a reg setting

in xp you can disable it with tweakui , dont know if this exists in vista
