voice modem on compaq presario 900 ?

hello
i have a compaq presario 900 with a modem in it.
recently i bought answering machine software.
now that software says that my modem does not support voice.
is this possible ???
(faxing with the modem works ok).

Yes, it's possible.
A lot of older 56k modems don't support voice. I recommend upgrading to a cable modem, but if you wanna stick with dial up, just go to a website that sell computer parts and pick up a 56k data/voice/fax modem. They're really cheap, don't spend more than $20 on one. In fact I've got a couple of them from old computers just sittin in my closet. :-)
 
the laptop is 2 yrs old.
i suppose compaq doesn't use old modems in their labtops.
but anyway, I found it also, this SoftV92 data/Fax doesn't support voice.
i have a cable modem for internet connection.
the voice modem is only for faxing and answering machine.
