My 2600+ is running at 66-67C on a full load and i was about to get a volcano 12, but my brother says i don't need it because his processor runs in the mid 70's. Will i have major problems if i keep running this hot, and if i choose to overclock what would be the optimal temperature for me to have?

well,.. it can depend on the core. i mean,.. my thunderbird 1333 was 75 - 87*C
and now my palomino runs with the same cooler @ 45 (and with the one ive got now 30-40C)
but i agree, buy a better cooler, and i think your bro would need one to..

Good call... and if yer getting the volcano12, also consider getting something like Arctic Silver5 as opposed to the stuff that comes with the cooler

Yes

^^ true. Also make sure that you have sufficient cooling of the case. It never hurts to add more fans in order to have cooler air coming in (better CPU temps).
