volume control not displaying on taskbar

my problem here is i my volume control just wont display on the taskbar, i have tried checking the display button but still doesnt come up, also i have tried re-install the sndvol32.ex file but that didnt work either. i dont get any errors or anything it just dont show up even after i apply the setting.

Did you enter "expand sndvol32.ex_" at the recover console or command prompt? Or did you type in "expand sndvol32.exe"? Since the files in the I386 folder on the installation disk are compressed you would enter "expand sndvol32.ex_ c:\windows\system32" to expand the file and see it correctly copied into the system32 subdirectory there. When the command is entered correctly you will see a message come up asking if you want to overwrite the current file there where you choose the yes answer.
