Vonage question...

You seem to hook everything up with their router, but if you want anything beyond a basic one, you need to pay extra. So, would it work fine to put your own router (a wireless one) BEFORE the Vonage one? Or is this a no-go?

Or do I just get one of these and use my own router:

Also, does Vonage and other such services suck up a lot of bandwidth even when not in use?

if i were you i would hold off on vonage. since they are getting sued or got sued, they may go out of busness. This is a rummer i think so just to be on the safe side i would wait a year.

they used technology from a different company and i think they have a phone call to the director saying that it was violating some patent.

That doesn't sound good. Well, what's the worst that can happen if I sign up and they go out of business? At most I'll only lose out on $25 for whatever month they decide to call it quits. Right? I'm looking at Charter's internet phone thing (I plan to get internet through them as I believe it's the only one in the area), but it costs more (like $15/month more at the promo price).

Anyway, I'll consider all options. But could someone please answer the original questions, primarily the bandwidth one?
