ok so i was wondering how good is the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 in the vostro 200 compared to the radeon 9200 128 mb. Im trying to figure out which one is better for gaming or even windows vista

It depends what you want to use your computer for, I would keep the GMA3100 because it's newer, has DX9, etc. If you want a gaming card then you will need something better.

so youre saying to keep the intergrated? How much video memory does it have, probably 128 mb. Actually what i can and will do is run 3d mark test on both video cards and whichever scores higher ill stick with, or what

I believe the 3100 can have up to 256MB or around there, although it's shared RAM so it's much slower then the dedicated 128MB on your 9200. Running benchmarks would be a good idea, although as I said before, if you are just using this for video playback and such, the 3100 would be better for the most part because it supports DX9.0c as well as many other newer features.

so since the 9200 doesnt support dx9 it wouldnt work on vista premium or what . so how much ram would it take to boost the intergrated to 256 and than how much ram would i need to make it adequate for gaming. I might not even use it for gaming the computer has either a 1.6 ghz celeron or 1.6 ghz duo core. Is a 2.7 ghz celeron better than the 1.6 ghz duo core? or no

You can use the 9200 in Vista, although you wont have the 3D and Aero effects.

A 1.6GHz Core Duo is much better then a 2.7GHz desktop Celeron.

ok the processor is a Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor E2140 1.60GHz, 1MB L2 Cache. Ok so for the intergrated how much memory do i need for 256 mb max and enough to run a game. I couldnt imagine doing much gaming becuase i have an xbox 360. So i want the vista visuals so i might use intergrated but how much ram will i need. And i fi max out the intergrated will it be better than the radeon 9200?

I would only set it to 256MB (via the BIOS) if you have at least 2GB of RAM. Now the x3100 is an integrated card so 128MB is plenty, now for gaming neither one will be able to play the newer games, although some older games should run on lower settings.

yes but does the intergrated only share 256 mb of ram or it doesnt work that way. Also i want vista visuals so i might need the intergrated. But if the intergrated it maxed out wouldnt it be better than the radeon 9200

Yes all of the RAM for the x3100 is shared with the system RAM, so it will take away from it.

RAM size doesn't make a huge impact on real-world performance, but the 9200 is such a low end card that the x3100 may perform better.
