vostro 200 problem

i went to my 200 and it has went into some sort of mode. it now makes 3 tones and the fan is running constantly.

i have turned the computer off, unhooked power completely and it still does this. nothing on the screen.

any help out there?

maybe i can clear this up some. the fan runs constantly there is a tone uh,uh, uh 3x it keeps doing this!

It's probably a memory issue. If you're comfortable taking the side panel off, unclip and remove the memory modules. Then simply put them back in place, making sure they fully clip back into place.

I did double check the service manual from Dell. 3x beeps is a motherboard failure. So if reseating the RAM doesn't fix it, then your motherboard is shot.
 
200 problem

ok ill try that i have put new memory in b4. i relistened and it makes 4 uh, uh,uh, uhs.

maybe this will help also thinking p/s

So now it does 4 beeps? That's a RAM Read/Write failure. The manual states

Ensure that no special memory
module/memory connector placement
requirements exist (see "Memory
Installation Guidelines" on page 112).
Verify that the memory modules that
you are installing are compatible with
your computer

Fixed!!!!!!

thanks guys took the cover off cleaned up the heatsink and reseated the rams.

now it works better than ever.
