I'm shocked to see nobody has asked about this before, but i'm curious to know if using Windows 7's Slideshow background functionality will prevent my hard disks from sleeping?

In a laptop or single hard-disk desktop, i wouldn't think twice about this, but in my home pc, my photos are stored on a 5-disk raid 5 array, which i would like to sleep whenever possible. Curious to know if the system simply caches a bunch of images, or if it will actually keep my disks from sleeping.

Also curious to know if the Microsoft 'themes' keep the os disk awake with their 5-10 image wallpaper or not?

I leave my computer on 24/7 as it's used as an FTP image drop for my eye-fi card, as well as operating as a file server and private cloud, so the prospect of my raid 5 spinning at all times is a big deal, in terms of both efficiency and wear & tear.

I don't think it does prevent it from sleeping. In fact I'm pretty sure that a lot of people would want to use both functionalities.
