Hi guys.
I need some help, im taking a education in computers, and sometimes i need files and programs from my homepc, but i dont want i to be turned on all the time, so do anyone know some wake-on-internet software, that giving me the opertunity to wake my homecomputer at school?
I got a local area network with 8 compters at home

Thanks!

ive used but not now. i checked and it was called wol.exe. thats it.
dont remember where i got it from. i have and will again. i know ya have to have a motherboard to support wake on lan. it has to be turned on. one suggestion though. all profiles should have strong passwords. about two years ago and using RealVNC Enterprise to remotely operate. woke up one morning and found my mouse moving around. went into panic mode and uninstalled. just told me to get more secure. nice proggy though.

.

Yeah, i have looked at that app too, but what i found out, it could only do it inside the lan.
Its really important with a strong password, when you open op for that kind of premissions, but i´ve got a internet security course in grade 5, so i know.
but thanks :)

Im rusty about setting this up. i don't think did any thing different.
I needed for the wan side. worked fine. Others will reply.
many are using now and works well.
I think i would like to use some kind of ssl or an encryption of some sort.
im still looking or if someone knows then please reply.

You could try pogoplug. It's small device that you connect to your router and then to however many usb hard drives you want. That way, your hard drive is connected to the internet. You would just leave the hard drive turned on when you go to school. Then from school you can access that pogoplug device via any internet connection and you have access to all your files. It's a really practical idea. However, the device costs $99.

I know it's not quite what you are looking for, but I just thought I'd suggest it as an alternate solution. However, that will not give access to the programs installed on your computer. It only allows you access to files on the hard drive(s).
