Does anybody know how to wake the computer on wan side?
i can do from the lan ok. Not outside of this. Im leaving the country for a few days and need access to my computer. I feel a lot safer with it turned off and using remote software. Im using realvnc enterprise and have it set up so i can login at the ntlogin screen. I normally have to call home and have someone turn on the computer for access.
thanks

This website has a nice easy to follow description of how to accomplish what you're trying to do. Just keep security in mind, if someone else out there finds out about your setup they can remotely turn on your computers, in addition, if you aren't encrypting your remote desktop session they can snoop that as well and find out what your windows username and password are. This would give someone perfect and easy access to your computer. Now, I'm not really saying you have to worry about this. You're not doing anything important enough for anyone to really be that interested in you. I'm just saying it's somehting to keep in mind, good luck. Sounds like a fun project.

I agree with your statement. Using and having wol would only be used if out of town. Im using RealVNC Enterprise. then it would be available at the NT login screen. I also created good passwords. It would be nice to do this secure though. as far as i know everthing is a monthly fee unless you have other suggestions.
thanks
