Wanna upgrade board but.........

I currently have the Gigabyte GA-965G-DS3 board and i really wanna upgrade to something newer ecspecially something that can overclock much better than this, but i dont wanna have to reinstall XP and put everything back on my Hard drive. So is there any boards i could get that would allow me to just take out the old one and put the new one in and it work without having to reinstall XP and start from scratch?
 
I don't know for sure, but as long as it has generally the same chipset, you should be fine. A while back I swapped boards and went from an nForce4 to a nForce4 Ultra and windows didn't give me any problems.
 
it's seems like if you stay with the same brand and upgrade to like a DS4, you should be fine. Again, I'm not sure either, but they have almost the same chipset, and they are the same brand and everything, so that would probably work.
 
What about this board ? GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 (rev. 1.3) It has the same north and south bridge as the board i have now and is pretty much the same thing except this board can except quad cores and higher FSB plus i heard its a really really good overclocker.
 
Well they just had the GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 (rev. 1.3) on newegg and now its no where to be seen, what happened to it? any ideas
 
Anyone got any more ideas on boards i could upgrade to without having to reinstall xp and that supports 1333FSB?
 
The 965P is a terrific overclocking board, but I wouldnt call it much of an upgrade from your current one. I don't know your budget, but they make some P35 and 680i boards that are around $100-$160.

$160 is probably the most i wanna spend on a new board. but the thing is that i wanna be able to just buy the new board and put it in without having to reinstall XP.
 
Even if you switched to the 965P, theres still a chance that Windows won't load, although it most likely will, theres always that chance.
