Want an upgrade.. but need help.

So.. today I was looking into buying a GTX 960 because I want better performance for my PC.. but I want to find the best way to increase performance without wasting money.

Help would be much appreciated, I'm going to list my PC specs and maybe you can help me figure out which components I should upgrade on my PC that will benefit me the most.

Current set up

Windows 7 (Hate 10)
AMD A10-7700k Radeon R7 ~3.4 ghz - Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
16 GB Ram
GTX 750 ti (Wanting a GTX 960 but need suggestions)
Board - GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+
600W ATX 12v Power Supply

So.. suggestions? Would I get better performance if I switched to a better card? Can my computer handle a better card? Any suggestions are good.
 
Don't really see much you can do other then the video card. Would get one better then the GTX 960 to move to your next computer when you do upgrade. As far as the computer, I would wait till the new Intels or AMD Zen comes out.
 
@StrangleHold hit the nail on the head.

The GTX 960 isn't that much of a boost from the 750Ti.

Look at an RX 480, GTX 1060, or if you can find somebody selling a used one for around $200 a GTX 970.

CPU offerings aren't good on the AMD side until Zen comes out, and Kaby Lake is going to be pretty nice for Intel. Nothing wrong with Skylake, but the prices will drop later if you choose to go down that path...

I had a Phenom II 955 that I went from 3.2GHz to 4.0GHz without even breaking 50oC at full load. My board couldn't give it any more juice but it wasn't anywhere near overheating. I'd expect him to be able to bump it 4.0 or higher pretty easily. AMD chips clock pretty darn well usually and have pretty tangible gains too. Those chips don't get nearly as gosh darn hot as 83XX chips. My 212 still keeps up with it alright though. :)

I want a closed loop so bad.

Even the 83XX line up overclocks with decent temps.. I was hitting 60c's at 4.7GHz (FX-8320) but only because of the case I was using!

A10 will stay pretty cool before it reached throttle temps!

I break 60oC on occassion, but I'll attribute that to being 100oF outside daily and about 80oF in the house. Also having a heavily overclocked 390 right under my 212 intake fan doesn't help either. :D

If there's one thing I know, it's how to overclock AMD chips. Their thermal sensors are basically wrong, and don't read accurate temperatures, but they do provide an accurate scale to measure against. As long as you don't break 62 "degrees" Celsius, they're fine. I think 62oC is the touted max temp but they don't throttle till 70 IIRC.

The core/package temp is what's got the funky sensor. If you look at the socket temperature (dependent on the board) that's a more accurate and real temperature. Don't expect me to explain AMD's shenanigans. I'm obviously a fan, but they're up to some weird BS sometimes. :D

You're getting delta 20oF on air?
 
80 (ambient) - 60 CPU = 20oF delta. That is pretty freaking amazing for an air cooler.

I'm talking about the air conditioning in my house...

It's impossible to get your temperature below ambient without refrigeration of some sort.

You're also using two different scales. 100oF outside, 79oF inside, 60oC, CPU temp.

Edit: Ohhh I got ya, I had a typo a few posts up saying it was 80oC in the house. Lol, that would be crazy.
