want fullscreen youtube like with win98.help

I recently formatted my c drive to winXP from win98.And i am new to XP.
I am feeling inconvenient in many matters.here is a very important1.

I use IE 6.0.2900.And when I used to watch youtube videos fullscreen with win 98 the screen was much
larger.The major difference is that in win98(I used a slightly earlier version of IE then i think)
you donot have those IE skins covering a lot of space and also the taskbar below
takes a lot of space.
But in 98 ,it was just a full screen player occupying much larger screen area.
tell me how can remove those IE skins please.I just want the player infront of me and not the IE skin/taskbar ..........like i
used to get with 98.Will firefox help?

And no i am not talking about f11 type fulscreen.

Well i noted something -it's not just youtube.
whenever i try to go fullscreen with the IE with my newly installed winXP(replacing win98,i am new to XP) -the skin of IE always remains.How do I avoid seeing the skin and statusbar of IE when i go full screen?
please tell me.

try pressing f11 when you view a video, this is the manual wayto put a web page into full screen mode, it may help you. Alternatively try using firefox - www.getfirefox.com

or if i understand what you are trying to say go to View>Toolbars and uncheck all the unnesessary ones that you dont use. It makes IE menus a lot smaller with more space for webpages

i downloaded firefox and in firefox i can actually go totally fullscreen.
But I have another problem now.I want IE as my default browser but it seems firefox has made everything for itself.I can't even open IE now.How do I make IE my default browser?please help

Ok i just managed to set IE back as my default browser.but i have a question.

If I clear history(with the IE),the history does great cleared.All the history.
but in the adress bar ----
If i type c it shows:

search for "c"

If i type s it shows:

Even if clear history these do not go away.
but all the other histories do go away.
help please any1.i want to clear those things from my adress bar incase i type
"c" or "s"

It was already unchecked.
I tried checking and unchecking it a bit but it didnot help much.
