My old, old backup desktop computer runs an AMD Athlon (tm) at 1.3GHz in a pc Chips k7 mobo. M825G is the model. I wish to buy a faster processor and just drop it in with little fuss and have a faster box with minimal cost. A newer HD runs Win XP and has data and programs on it. How can I learn for sure the fastest chip to be bought that will work. I don't need an all weekend train wreck or to buy a chip that won't boot. Thanks.

Looks like there two different revisions of the board. Just pick the one you have and click on the CPU support list.
