hi guys, this is the first time I try to build a computer so i need a lots of help. I want to build a standard desktop for around $500+ but not exceed $700. I will use this mostly for web surf, listen to music a little, playing games a little... I guess I don't need a super computer for that. So please help me build a cheap/best with that amount of money. Thanks

Hello, do you have any preference on either Intel? or Amd?

How about for graphic card? AMD radeon? or Nvidia?

The choices you make from the manufacture will come out how much you will spend. Also do you have microcenter near you? if so they are doing a very good deal on Ivy bridge / sandy bridge deal with 50 dollar off on the motherboard you choose

Also what type of games do you looking to play? Anything modern? or oldies like counter strike? or half life?

haha, true fan boys from all over the place will come here and fight.

Anyway, you gotta tell us what type of games you will be playing, since that will play the biggest factor on how much you will be spending. If you are not gonna be gaming, media editiong, or anything heavy, you can get away with even 300 dollar set up.

Good graphic card to game is not only expensive, you need a better Power supply to support it, and then you will want to invest in a decent motherboard, and its just like a chain reaction to go into atleast a medium gaming rig.

If you wont be gaming, then you can get away with very cheap graphic card, and you wont need to get a good power supply, and you can get away with cheap mobo. (Motherboard)

I mean games as daily playing for fun, not into any of that WOW,..ect games.. media as I listen to music sometime..

yea. that processor is the lowest you can get with AMD. You can go intel and save a little I think. a Celeron G530 or Pentium G820 would suit you fine.

its been doing that a lot. you have to middle click them, or click both mouse buttons together if you don't have a scroll wheel mouse. sorry bout that.

Since he did Amd build, I ll throw example of Intel / Nvidia build.

(Total is $470)

Intel i5 3570k comes with Integrated graphic card inside the CPU. Its called Intel HD4000
It will even play latest game atleast on low or medium setting with no sweat. My Macbook air has Intel HD3000 integrated in it, and I play starcraft 2 on medium with 40-50 fps which is plenty
And this comes with HD4000 which is even better then what my laptop has, so you wont need to buy extra graphic card if you go with this.

All the price I listed are on sale now, I tried to pick item that were on sale the most, so if you want it you should buy it now.
Just the cpu and motherboard it self can go up to CPU: 250 + Motherboard: 155 = $405

The motherboard and the cpu deal from microcenter is huge at the moment.

EDIT: Fail...the cpu and motherboard deal is In store only. I hope you got a microcenter near you, sorry about that.

okay. that is an okay build. couple of things though. GO for the Antec 302 or a HAF 912. They at least have some cable management, the 300 has none at all.

He can get 1TB for only $30 more.

With a K series, I would get an aftermarket cooler, which is $30.

how about this? only $40 after rebate GIGABYTE GV-R667D3-1GI Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
