want to build gaming comp

hey recently my dell xps laptop got broken since im starting to run low on money while doing to school i decided i would like to build a computer. but i dont know much about what parts and brands are good and will get the job done for what i will use it for. I would mostly just being playing WoW on it sometimes and surfing the internet and downloading movies/tv shows/music.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me piece together a good computer that i could also upgrade when i have more money later on. As of now i was looking to spend around 800 or so but can always do over a little if need be. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If you can afford an extra $40 over budget aftier MIR (Total after MIR being $840) I would seriously recommend adding an SSD to your build to massively increase performance of boot times/load times of all applications on it. Should you do so, I would swap your ahrd drive too to something larger + slower with less power draw, so take out the hard drive from the build above, and replace it with:

If you can't afford the extra, the other system will perform great too, but the SSD will be making load/boot times only a fraction of what they would be with a hard drive

thanks for the info both of you. i like the 2nd one better. im thinking the ssd is a good addition to but not 100% sure if id really need it though it would be pretty nice. also i was looking at cases and i really like the antec nine hundred case and would that power supply be enough if i wanted to run 2 gtx 460's at one point?

An Antec 900 is an extremely over-rated, over price case. It is large, however has an insane lack of vital features for a decent case, like cable management, and side mounted hard drives.

And you can't run 2 x 460's on that motherboard, you would have to get an AM3 board with nVidia chipset, but they are pants compared to AMD chipsets. You would be better, when the 460 can't handle top games any more, to get a new card, it would be better for power draw, heat and for missing a load of potential issues

+1, but not just any power supply, from a good manufacturer; Seasonic, Corsair, Silverstone, PC P&C, Enermax, XFX, Antec
