I would like to build a new system and would like some serious info on a Mobo, Cpu, and memory. I have everything else for the time being. I also would like opinions on to SLI or not ? My current setup is below and has worked fine until I changed motherboards and now it's nothing but problems. I would like to stay under $900.00 for the new componets if possible. My current mobo is a A8N32-sli deluxe and has been a dud so far. Please help !

My System

Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Amd 64x2 4400+ dual core cpu
Ultra 800 watt
2 Evga 7900gs Pci express cards
2 gigs Corsair Value memory ( 2 x 1024 )
Pri. HD WD 10,000 rpm 74gb sata raptor
Sec > HD WD 7200 rpm 250gb sata 2
Samsung DL DVD Burner with Lightscribe
NEC DL DVD burner
Case Aspire Navigator

- Do you want info on your motherboard or a new one?
- Do you just want Ram and a CPU to go with your existing Motherboard?
- What will the rig be used for?

I want a new mobo , cpu and memory. It will be used for gaming and general internet surfing, along with editing my pictures using Adobe Photo shop cs2. The current board I have now has alot of issues with it that I'm unable to fix, and since the 939 platform is phasing out I'm looking towards the future.

Ram - You've obviously had experience with Crucial and tbh i would state that they are the best Ram manufacturer out there, so stick with them if possible. Another thing to take into consideration is your OS. If you have XP, although it can have up to 4gb, i wouldn't really recommend it. If you have Vista, you might like to have more than 2gb because Vista is capable of utilising this in a much more useful fashion.

CPU - It seems money is on your side for this new rig, so i think you should get a Core 2 Duo as at the moment there leaps and bounds ahead of any other CPU currently on the market.

Mobo - Lots of people have their favourites but i like Asrock and Asus simply because in the past i have had no problems with them. Seen as this is a completely different story with you i would go with a Asrock or Gigabyte motherboard because, from what i've heard, these are highly rated boards.

I was thinking of the E6600 C2D and some Corsair PC6400 DDR2 800 memory. But as far as the mobo I haven't a clue. I know Asus makes good boards and chances are I just got a lemon this time. I was wondering if the problems had been solved with the 680i boards? What model boards would you recommend? Thanks for the advice.

Also , I am running XP PRO 32 bit.
When considering a new board is SLI really worth the extra money and do you gain that much performance?
