want to buy a labtop... need help

so i was deciding between a dell xps or a hp dv8000 (with lots of upgrades)
i can get a dell, but when i want it to ahve all the stuff i want like 2 gb ram, 100 gb hard drive, 7900 gtx the cost goes way upp (around 3000 dollars) i can customize an hp with pretty much the same stuff for a little more than 2000 dollars. why is it so much cheaper? which would probably be better between the two? or if you guys have any other suggesstions which would be better than both of these two that would be ok too. the labtop will mostly be used for just routine things... do some school work, use wireless internet, play some games, nothing super major like programming or something like that. any help i could get would be great. thanks alot!
 
Dont play video graphic intense games on a laptop, you are wasting your money. You could buy a kick ass laptop, and desktop for the price of getting an extremely good Laptop.

There is a reason all that is so expensive...
 
What is your total budget, and would you mind having both a Laptop, and a desktop pc?

You can grab a nice Laptop for around 900-1000 and a great desktop for 1000-1200.


Use the pc for more advanced games, the laptop for on the road, less graphics intense games.
 
i already have a pretty nice desktop, so i dont have to worry about that. for the laptop im not really sure how much i really want to spend. im just customizing my own and trying to estimate. im willing to spend more then... 1000 if i need, or even 1200. but thats depending on what im getting
