Want to combine SDD and HDD

Want to combine SSD and HDD

Right now, I have (2) 250gb HDD drives in Raid 1 and it works fine for what I do. I have an ASRock MB that is quite capable of running a variety of RAID configurations. It is handling the Raid 1 that I am currently using.

I have 2x 60gb SSD's sitting here NIB and wanted to see how it would work to use them in Raid 0 configuration and use the HDD's for storage. I'd like to run my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS, a flight simulator, and some video editing software on the SDD's and save my docs and media out to any of the available HDD's.

How DO You Do It?

Thanks very much.

If its a concern to you, you might take a look that TRIM works with RAID0 on your board/BIOS. I believe it does.

If you haven't already, you'll need to back up any current data/storage you want to keep so you can install it to HDD afterwards. There are diff ways to set up HDD/SSD like you want.

Here's a couple using this link. Setup and Manage SSD

1. With SSD's and HDD's both installed > go to PARTITIONS>A and create "System Reserve" on SSD. Then proceed with TIPS>Option 1.

or

2. With HDD's disconnected, Install 7, drivers, and updates. Then connect HDD's and redirect your folders to a new location. And how to do that is at the bottom of that link.

WOW! Thanks for the link. Great 'How To' article. I read over it once, quickly.

I've got some studying to do. Will probably have to print it out and read it several times before it all makes sense.
