Want to remove subtitles from a .mkv file

I don't know if this is the right forum for this:

I have a .mkv video file with built in subtitles. Is there a way to remove the subtitles, preferably only during playback, but either way. Is there any player that can do it during playback? I have GOM, but it can't seem to do it, if players CAN do that at all.

Not if they're encoded into the video.

If you can turn off the subtitles manually, then you should be able to, however if they are embedded with no way of turning them off in VLC, no.
