Want to start Blog Design but dont know where to start

Hi,

I have a blog account with both Blogger and Wordpress but I dont like the themes that they both have as well as the layout. I want to be able to create my own Blog layout but I dont know where to start....

I have the following software on my PC which I think I will need, (Photoshop CS3 and Dreamweaver CS3) but I am unsure of what to do.

Now, I can design the home page template using photoshop but thats it, what do I need to do to turn that picture into a usable template for blogging, surely there is code involved in making the site work like a blog?

any help would be appreciated, I have tried googling help but I cant get anything that shows me what to do other than making the template with photoshop.

I don't know mate but maybe you should ask on the wordpress and blogger help sites about a template or code?
