Want to upgrade

I bought a gaming pc about a year ago. I have been wanting to upgrade it a bit for a while but didn't have the money until recently.

What's in it now:
Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00 GHz 2 core
ATI Radeon HD 4800 series (4890 i'm pretty sure)
ASUS P5Q SE2 Motherboard
6 GB RAM
500W power supply

Basics, I want to upgrade whatever needs upgraded. mobo/graphics card first. And will my processor be capable of handling that, without lag at all, or do I need to upgrade? I am not sure if it has been overclocked. I don't know much about computers, so any and all information will be helpful. If you need any other specs let me know and I'll do my best.

Id DEFINITELY upgrade the CPU...Not for gaming at all nowadays...Id get these...

BTW, how much can you spend? this build is around $600...or you can always go cheaper :) If you want me to post a cheaper 1, just say so... :D

What brand power supply do you currently have? And is your current case ATX or mATX?

Like jd132 said, you're pretty much gonna have to upgrade almost everything to make it a decent gaming PC for today's standards.
 
Thanks for the replies, and sorry it has taken me so long. Been busy due to work :(.

All of that would be nice, lol. Is that what I need - to have a nice gaming system. 600 is right about where I was looking at. Would you be able to link me some cheaper builds just for reference? I definitely want a rockin processor and mobo, so that I don't have to upgrade them in the future. What would be a sick graphics card that is, well, way better then mine?

I have a Antec 500W power supply. That doesn't sound very popular so I am going to assume that I need to upgrade that as well.
As for my case, I have absolutely no idea lol. This PC Was built and I bought it off somebody for a 360 and some cash. There is a TON of extra room in the case though.
