I have a HP Pavilion a735w Desktop PC that has a Hard drive that is 80 GB Ultra DMA 7200 rpm and i was wondering if i can add another one or something. I have no clue if i can or can't but i wanted to buy like another 80GB or something that's not going to be TOO much (even though it's only like $80 for a 200GB) and then i wanted to add that to my computer but i don't know if it's possible. Instead of copy/pasting stuff i'll just give you a link to my computer stats and stuff- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00260857

I guess i'm looking for something like this if possible but i need someone to tell me if and how i can install it- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822144122

You should be fine, that drive is an IDE. To install -> you put in a drive bay (be sure to unplug your computer before opening the case) then you plug in the thick looking cable (PATA or also known as IDE cable) and make sure you connect the power; usally a molex connector (that comes from your PSU).

It says this...

5.25-inch, external Two (one available)
3.5-inch, external Two (one available)
3.5-inch, internal One (occupied)

So i'm assuming that means i can't add another internal HD. If i get an external one is it possible to add it so the 2 drives act like one unified HD or will they be separate and i will need to switch back and forth?

All those bays are internal, it just means that you have access to them from the outside. What you can do is put it underneath the floppy drive. It will work perfectly there.

You can add your harddrive to the free 5.5" bay. All you need is a bracket that will allow you to instal a 3.5" HD into a 5.25 inch bay. You can get the bracket from NCIX.com for like 2-3 dollars! Works very well as i installed my hdd on a 5.25" bay.

why? like omega said, it will fit in the free 3.5inch external drive space, keaving the faceplate on.

Be sure to set the jumper on the new drive to slave if you're putting it on the same IDE cable as the first one... master if it's alone on the 2nd IDE cable...

I didn't check your specs, so I'm just throwing that info out
