Wanting to build first PC

Hi I was looking to build my first PC but unsure which parts are compatible with which. My budget is $1000 (or $1200 with shipping included). So if someone could compile a list of new, up-to-date parts for that price range that'd be great!

Keep in mind, I will primarily be using it for photo/video editing but also some games such as GTA with friends. So graphics and high end rendering are a MUST. This simply needs to be the best bang for buck.

PS) the space it's going into is small so if you could also recommend some cable management, cooling and space management techniques, it'd be cool. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you have up to $1200 to spend then you can afford this setup. New graphics cards are coming out soon. I'd recommend NVIDIA for photo/video editing for the CUDA GPU acceleration. It makes a big difference! I have put a GTX 960 4GB in this build which will be fine for your needs (I do similar things with a GTX 760 4GB) but the GTX 1070 is coming soon so you may be interested in that instead. I believe it's not going to be too much more than this 960.

That comes to $1,162 CAD. Do you need an operating system?

I'm not from Canada (I'm in the UK) so @Laquer Head or another Canadian member might be able to tell if you if Newegg Canada is the best store or not. I use Newegg for our American users so I assume the Canadian one is OK too.

NCIX has a bunch of free shipping promo's for spending over a hundred bucks. Memory Express is alright if you live next to one. They have a very crappy RMA policy though. Newegg's tight if you live in Ontario as they have quite a few pickup locations there or else you're going to get dinged by the shipping costs. Newegg Canada sucks for not having more free shipping offers.

If you live close to the border, you can probably snipe some stuff from Newegg US or Amazon US for a relatively cheaper price even after converting to our crappy exchange rate right now.
