Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a desktop Pc (or laptop) for my kids for Xmas but it needs to run Minecraft without constantly lagging. My current desktop is quite old and though it runs the game, its pretty unplayable. There are so many options available, especially second hand on Ebay,so thought I would come here for some advice. I'd rather not spend more than £400 on it to be honest so hoping that is realistic.

If anyone can help that would be really helpful.

Thanks
Gemma

This is my current PC's specs if it helps. Maybe this can be built. It is an all in one PC.

Manufacturer:Packard Bell
Model: ILL

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.61 GB usable)
System Type: 64 Bit Operating System

The processor is what is holding you back on this. If you get a desktop do you need monitor, keyboard and mouse or do you already have those? You said it was an all in one which means you would not have a separate monitor.

I'm currently looking on amazon uk and can't find anything too decent for the 400 budget you have. Not gonna recommend getting any weird brand pc either. But any dual core above 2.6 ghz and decent onboard video should work.

Thanks for reply. I noticed the specs below on Ebay, which I cannot see a brand for as its a custom build with the brand name fierce pc. its £320 with monitor included. would this type be ok for a game like Minecraft, with the main problem being its an unnamed brand?

That should work fine but you have one problem. The price designates there is no operating system installed first entry under other specifications. Do you have an unused operating system to install on it?

I don't but you can add windows on for an extra £90, so its still around my budget. Its one of only a few i've really looked at so might find one for a better deal, but I just wanted to check these types of specs would be good enough for a game like Minecraft.

When you mentioned at first a 'decent onboard video', what specs do I need to be looking for this?
