more info on the processor

the processor is a intel pentium D cpu 2.80 GHz and i know that it is a dual core processor im kinda new at computer inerds' but im tryn to pick things up an advice please!?!?!??!???

Do you know what model the motherboard is? You may be able to put in a Core 2 Duo which are more powerful than the Pentium D. This saves you having to buy a new motherboard as well as a processor.

Yup I would go with the advice above unless the CPU you pickup has a different socket. Havent heard many good things about HP...

I have an Asus mobo and it kicks _ _ _! but my HP compaq laptop's design is crap... it heats up too fast... at idle cpu is 60+ C and the Grpahics card is 100+ C

There are many motherboards out there. Make sure you check the specification of each motherboard and check if it will be compatible with your CPU, RAM, HDD, VGA, etc. If you are having a hard time looking for the right motherboard, PM me. I will gladly assist you.

Buy an Intel Core 2 duo E6420 Its a good improvment from your pentium D for around 180 USD or something like that..

Would be a mistake to change to AMD from Intel right now. Intel is creaming AMD's processors with the Core 2 Duo, about this time last month was a price drop.
