Hello there I am a newbie to the site, I just bought a new lap top yesterday and I am starting to notice that my arm get very sore and very tired using the little touch screen on the lap top. I would absolutely LOVE to look at getting a wireless mouse. But I really don't know to very much about them. So that’s why I am here! I want advice on different kinds of wireless mouses that are out on the market, which ones are fairly good quality which ones aren’t things such as this.

My biggest concerns are mostly this:
1. I want it to be something that will last for a fairly good while and not break on me right away
2. Something that is fairly portable, since I am a college student I am up on the go A LOT and I would like it if my computer could be as portable as I am to an extent
3. Not something that costs a fortune, I just dropped about $700 on my new lap top and I am going to be paying it off for quite a while so I don't want to spend a ton of money accessories to go with the comp. I know wal-mart sells a lot of these wireless mouses so maybe something that I can find and pick up from there would be good.
Any advise at all will be very appreciated
Thanks

Probably not to awfuly much, school work which will probably consist of Word documents and Power Point projects, surfing the net and checking email, instant messaging, and a little bit of gaming (but nothing to big for gaming I don't really do tons of online stuff just older simpilar games).
Does that help any?

i have a"Logitech mx700" wireless mouse and its one of the best things i have bought. It was on the expensive side, but has lasted 3 years and still going strong. This may not be so good for you as it has a a dock that i put the mouse in to recharge it.

What you want is a small USB wireless mouse. you put the receiver in the usb slot (looks like a pen drive) and then use the mouse. The only problem you will have is that you will need to buy battrys for it as it wont have a rechargable dock.

You may as well just use a wired mouse. its what i use for my laptop and i dont have to worrie about battrys

its not really that I am trying to sound picky I but I would rather get a wireless one...just because I don't really want to be work on my school work at school and have to be fighting my mouse while doing other multiple things. I do like the idea of having something that rechargeable as opposed to something I keep buying money for. And if I looked into something like you said it would leave my USB slot open which would probably be a good thing since I use jump drives all the time with my school work.
You said your was a bit on the expensive side would you mind telling me just how much you did spend on it. I think I might in the long run be most interested in looking at that one. As opposed to just a simple USB one.

This mouse is pretty good for a laptop and only $16 but be warned it dosent work more than about 3-4 feet from the reciver. Its pretty nifty though b/c the USB reciver fits into the mouse when not in use, this also thurn the mouse off.

This one is good and has more range.

This one has an adapter for a PS/2 so it doesnt take up a USB slot.

Thank you very much those links are very helpful!

yeah that's true according to your situations you would go mostly for a daily lifestyle so being comfortable and having options would be nice, so i would suggest a usb slot if you feel that you won't use all your usb slots that has 5 or more buttons that way you can set it to thinks you might like =) so pretty much you just need to look for a mouse with a nice comfortable grip and wireless isn't really needed but it won't hurt either since it wont be use for EXTREME gaming =D

Well I think I am going to go with the Logitech LX7931395-0403 I would really like something that does not have a USB adapter just because I use the USB a lot with jump drives when I am working on school papers and projects. $34.99 doesn't seem to bad of a price and I think I am going to go with that one. Thank you all for all the advice. It was very, very helpful.
