My computer isnt that old , Probaboly a little over a year ,

I bought it from monarch, very good computer, compared to the ones ive bought in the past from our local computer folks.

I dont have the details yet , cause they are at my parents house, but I have a list at their house that has what kind of motherboard and all that stuff that my computer has

It works fast enough but i do alot of MULTI TASK , mutliple t hings at once

I know that i have a intel 4 processor ,a nd Im not sure whats the latest out ,

but can you update stuff like that without having to buy a new motherboard.

Im going to get that information tommorow , when I do , will you guys tell me what to do to make my computer process and be faster????.

One reason its slower is cause I do Heavy Download of High Defintion Movie Trialers and Convert them to dvd, so it takes alot of time to do 30 at one time (anywhere from 5 - 8 hours)

thanks guys

Depending on the hardware you could always overclock your machine. But of course that voids any warranty you may still have remaining and it could also damage your components if you do it wrong / don't know what you are doing. But overclocking with sense would certainly improve the speed of your computer. As from what I believe, a task such as that relys on pure CPU speed / type, I assume (correct me if I'm wrong someone, please). So OC'ing your CPU would be a good start.

As well as shutting down any un-needed applications that are running in the background etc.

a good spyware and virus scan is always a good start. then remove the startup programs. after all that you can look into upgrading hardware.

Overclocking like mentioned,More ram always gives a nice boost and just tweak the heck out of windows :D

k

k so it woulndt do me any good getting a better processor ???

I know that I have 512 or ram ,

would getting 1 or 2 gig ram , help any

it works fine , im not saying im having problems, but when I make my trailer demo dvds, and such , it just slows waty down like its taking all the resources it has to finish it\

im wanting to kind of make it a SPEED DEMON ,

so ill get that list of what I have, and maybe you guys can help me with that

Oh a new CPU would definitely be an improvement for that sort of task (file converting etc). It just depends on the CPU you decide to go for etc as some would be better suited than others.

i think you will see quite a boost if you get another 512Mb of ram to give you 1Gb...it did on mine anyway.

and even better if you can get a 1Gb stick and put it alongside your 512Mb stick.

i suppose you could upgrade your processor but its probably not worth it:)

also , whats like the best spyware program out there ,

ive done some scans, wtih some free ones ive found , but thats about it , possible i have a virus , i guess maybe, I dont currently have a virus scanner,

I had macafee, but i had problems iwth them , they were chargeing me every so many monthys and I knew nothign about it , and I got rid of it

although it was a good scanner

Upgrading the CPU will make some sort of improvement over his current one, as I said depending on which he would go for. Partnered with more RAM it would be a huge improvement. Don't rule out a CPU upgrade as completely useless, because it isn't.

:: Edit ::

Free anti virus would be Avast!, as for spyware you might want to look into Spybot Search and Destroy, as well as Ad-aware, which has a free version too. Those two combined are adequate enough. There is an AVG application as well but I can't quite recall what it is, however that's used widely amongst users on these boards now days.

well i didnt mean to rule out a cpu upgrade would be useless..i was just saying it probably wouldnt be worth it cost wise if you understand what i mean.

It depends entirely on what CPU he would go from and to really. And of course the other hardware (such as what processors the motherboard can take).

wow

wow , Im getting lots of replies and help and I havent even told what I have yet ,

Whats the newest and fastest processor thats out , thats for the general public

It can vary depending on the general publics budget :). But from what I have seen, and in comparison to most peoples budget with purchasing a fairly decent PC is that the Core 2 Duo range is a very popular range amongst computer enthusiasts.

oh

is that avast virus scanner friendly , it seems everytime i try a free one it slows the computer down ,

anyone have a linke to Spybot Search and Destroy

last time i downlaoded it , it was a look just like versiohn that was a virus in itself
