Warhmammer wont Play

Ive just bought warhammer 40000 dawn of war and it installs fine. But when i try to play it comes up with an error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary
Program: C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn Of War\W40k.exe
abnormal program termination

PLEASE HELP IM REALLY MAD MY COMPUTERS BRAD NEW ON HAS ALL THE RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS!

What does it mean?
 
It means that the program crashed because of some unknown reason. See if there's a patch out for it, check your video drivers, and if all else fails, check the Warhammer message boards to see if anyone else is having a similar problem...
 
Yeah, thanks. I found that page already. I tried downloading the patches and when my comp tries to install them it always says error. I dont know which ones to download. None i tried worked when trying to install. Someone else on that forum had the exact same problem....but no reply!!!!!!!!!
 
Well, I bought it awhile ago, but haven't installed or even opened the package yet. I'll do that now and see if I get any similar results...
 
At the moment I have no better advice over what DCIScouts has given. It seems you have an issue with you PC "possibly". Do you have problems installing other games?
 
Well, I went all the way through the tutorial and it played fine for me, sorry, but I don't have any other ideas at the moment...
 
Thanks anyway. Maybe its my processor the guy on that forum had the same processor (even model) and had the same problems
 
Well, Ive installed other games on my pc so ther seems to be nothin wrong with it. Just pot luck i picked the game that wont work...oh well
 
Hmm..., I find it strange that the processor would cause that kind of problem, I would guess that it would be more of a software conflict if anything (especially anti-virus or anything else that runs in the background...) But, if it is the processor, then it's all the more likely that they will come out with a patch for it in the future! :)
 
I fixed the problem - and the game will play now! Damn firewall was blocking it. I downloaded all of the patches and it come up. Thanks, the software conflict was the problem
