Warning To Everyone Using Instant Messaging Services.

So far no real complaints here on the free version. It has certainly caught a number of things that Avast and others would have missed. Generall I stick with what works and not what some(slip money under table) review says. :D

While it's good, it and Avast missed the "Is this you" virus, never tested it against the "Is this a picture of you :|" virus... Why do people send viruses? *Music starts playing* Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends....

Why do you it is better off to be familiar with more then one or two antivirus and other types of removers? None of them are going to stop "everything". Some new one will come by and prove that correct at times. Often it will take a more specific tool to remove one or another. The last option of course is to wipe a drive clean if something is too embedded.

I awhile back read the first page. The assholes who claimed this where at a convention then said it was a joke just to get peoples attention!!

To those of you unaware there was a virus going around on MSN messenger, and possibly other instant messaging services, saying "Is this you? www.metacafe.com/your email address here," then when you got the virus the "is this you" message spreaded to everyone on your contact list. Twas very difficult to get rid of. Now there's a new one, saying "Is this you in this picture? :| www.metacafe.com/random numbers". I know I am probably going to receive many messages saying "You're obviously not supposed to click those, only idiots don't know that" but about 75% of my friends got there's infected with the "is this you" virus. And about 60% of my friends wanted me to fix their computers after, lol, so yeah, watch out for that one.

AIM 5.9 had something similar 2, they might've fixed it or whatever..

Ive been using Instant Messaging Services for a long tie (Windows live messenger) and i havnt had one problem.

Thanks for letting us know though.

I reguarly do scans anyway.

Actually if some of you could do a conversation or something here, just to "BUMP" it up without bumping it, that would be great, make sure it's near the top, so everyone is warned about it.

man, i m an idiot, i got that 2 weeks ago. Quarantined it and it spread to people yesterday. My friends were so pissed. They knew i was a computer nerd (not that i am) and thought i made it as a prank.

LOL!

O WELL

If it's anything like the original, you go into safemode, open the msconfig, and I think get rid of most of the files... I'll google it, one secodn. =P

Hehe. What exactley does the "Is this a photo of you" virus do? I know all of the "Is this you" Virus, but never really learned what the "photo" virus did.

Hm.... I thought it would AT LEAST do what the other one did.... Considered itself a critical windows task, so you couldn't ctrl+del it, stopped you from accessing the msconfig when you're not in safe mode, opened an application that takes up the most ram on your comp, slowing it down immensely when you got 128.:P And yes, infecting everyone on your buddy list. I think SurferSideKick3 still annoyed me more though.
