Was 40°C inside my house yesterday... need a cooling system!!!

Well living in Australia has its benifits but its summer and i don't have Airconditioning in my house so yesterday it got to 40°C inside which makes it imposible to use my PC. :eek:

Can anyone suggest some cooling systems for the Rig in my signature.. preferably quiet ones.
 
Considering its that hot in your house a whole bunch of fans wont help because they will just suck in the hot air. Seems like the best solution i can think of is water cooling. With water cooling youll get less noise, alot more cooling, and you wont need to worry anymore about the temp in your house. Only downside is that if it leaks your screwed.....:(
 
Not cessisaily will watercooling itself help anyways, It'll be pumping heated water though it, not to mention added heat from pumps and everything.

You'll want a cooled heating system. There are prebuilt one and ther are DIY ones you can make. I would DIY it much cheaper. Get one of the 40$ mini frigdes, drill two holes in the front of the door, and here's a tricky part your going to have to seal and inralate around the holes.

Next run coils of tubing insidde of it, I would suggest 30 feet. next get apump(small aquaruim pump's work well) 50gph would be a nice cheap one. and then hook it all up, you'll have to get the regular parts to actully have it go over your cpu and everything.

ALSO Don't be one of the idoit's who just put the peices on, use PVC primer and cement, then after all of that is done, use 100% silicone to seal up the ridges.

The way i figue it, is it PV cement holds the pipe's to my house, and 100% silcone holds up my 120gallon fish tank(almost a 1000 lbs of water, and even more pressure) then both have to seal up the tube's fairly well :)
 
yep yesterday was a killer temperature wise, got to around 44 degrees celcius, thankfully I had air conditioning, nothing comes in the way of me and my internet access.

As to your ?, I would be installing air conditioning in my computer room. Serves two purposes, pc runs cooler and so will you.

Water cooling can't cool below ambient either. It is possible to design a HSF/Case that will perform better than water cooling.

Basically without an expensive and/or elaborate cooling system you're going to be running a bit hot, not to mention you'd be making the room hotter too. Not sure exactly how you run your computer or how much you're willing to spend, but a with a very good HSF (and very good case ventilation) you might be able to keep the CPU temp in the low 60s with moderate use.
 
Air conditioning may be a better investment, but I was running my computer as well, when the outside temp hit 44C, without air conditioning. With a decent HSF you should be able to keep your computer running even on 40+ days.
 
What is the chance of water cooling leaking anyway? Also, do you think that it will go down in price? My friends say that it is expensive but I havn't looked into yet.. seems rather complicated... :(
 
On average there around $200-$300.

I think the best investment you can make is to buy an Air Conditioner.
 
Air conditioner's are more expensive to buy, and to run, but at least they keep you cool too. It really depends on how much he has to spend, and if he want's himself cool also.
 
You should give considerable consideration to the A/C. I'd be considering moving pc to average size bedroom, which won't require an enormous btu output. Cooling room prior to using pc will extend lifespan of cpu,hdd and video card, not to mention a good nights' sleep.
It will save your sanity if nothing else and it's not going to be any cooler next year or the year after..
 
Water cooling wont cool below what the air temp outised the tubes is, so thats pointless. Any temps that are below room/ambient on your CPU will cause condensation, which is mpisture, a PC and water dont mix......

Investigate "peltier cooling" and if your damn rich then google for a "phase changer" The best you can do is to get AC in your house, that is the safest when considering condensation, dont try and make your CPU colder than your room temp, it will end in tears.......

Good point. I totally forgot about condensation on the pipes. I guess that eventually you will get condensation in your case. Oh yeah, if you can't afford a mini refrigerator, maybe you can cut out some of the rubber seal that goes around the door on your normal refrigerator. You could then put all the tubing in one of the crispers, or somewhere near the point of tube exit or entry.
 
lol hook up an air condition to a tube that feeds into the computer case!
^wow im smart. lol make sure the tube has plenty of insulation so you dont gain alot of heat on the way to the case.
that way, you can turn even cool your system after it turns off, and also your house while its off!
air conditioners are a bit expensive to run... but hey a computers a computer, and a gamers gotta do what a gamers gotta do!
or just move north! lol

it happens, i saw it on one of the sites where the watercooling actually leaked,
and no warrenty would ever cover the damaged items.
 
If you properally seal it then it wont leak, and you can get speacail condensation-proof-pipes, they are mrore expensive though, i dont remember how much...Might not be worth it, but it could still be I doont know, would have to look into it.
 
My friend has liguid cooling and he bought a mini freezure, and filled a container of water, and put the radiator inside this container. Make sure you turn down the temp gauge in your freezer first! You can freeze the water in the pipes and you comp. will over heat faster then you can say, "Look theres a kangaru chasing a dingo, who stole my baby, and is now on fire!!!!":)

It only leaks if your a complete moron while installing it. You probably saw an instance where the radiator had such extreme heat and extreme cold on the 2 ends of the radiatior that caused the metal to crack or disform...this eventually caused it to leak.
 
i could rig up a water cooled system myself since my uncles a plumber and ive been workin with him for 2 years, but its not worth it, 10 fans do me fine, and i just turn my music or games up loud and u can barely notice them :)
