Hey,

I was out of the computer building seen for a bit, and was wondering what motherboard is good for $350 max. I have no preference between ATI or NVIDIA. I would like to do crossfire or SLI for my build though. Also wanting to go the intel way as far a CPU's. I was going with Gigabytes X38 chipset before I left my computer build for awhile, but am not sure if any new motherboards came out that can be better thats in my price range.

Thanks
Shawn

I'd take a 790i Ultra (or general 790i will do as well) from XFX or something with some DDR3 (not that that's of much use... But you'd be able to say: I have DDR3 ram)...

And take a cheap videocard for now (9600GT or 8800GT) and wait for the newer 9900 (or maybe known as GTX 200/260/280 or something like that, those should beat the new ATI 48xx series... I hope).

Can anybody tell me if I get the differences between the X48, 780i, and 790i.

X48

- Crossfire ready
- Unable to do SLI
- DDR2 RAM

780i
- 3 way SLI ready
- Unable to do Crossfire
- DDR2

790i
- 3 way SLI Ready
-Unable to do Crossfire
- DDR3 Ram

For the X48 boards I have been looking at the Asus Rampage. For the 780i boards I have been looking at the Asus Striker II Formula. I haven't really looked at the 790i. I would like to stay with either Gigabyte or Asus unless you guys can convince me to go to something else.

But anyways between the two boards I listed, which one would you guys choose. Does it basically come down to do I want SLI or Crossfire. Or would you recommend a different board.
