hi..i am really confused here,i want to buy a tv tuner ,so that i can record some shows while the normal tv is on,but i DONT KNOW HOW,and i dont know which tv tuner to buy for that...can anybody help me out plz?

There are various makes and models of tuner cards with most being the pci type. The card will need to have some input source connected to it even through a vcr for composite that way if the card fails to detect a 75ohm input.

The cards include the software package that generally see the pvr or timer for scheduling time and length of recording. Make sure you have a good sized hard drive installed since the usual mpeg II format of the recording loves drive space like most video files.

For recording while watching you will see the record button on the task bar for the viewer. That allows manual start at any time. AVerMedia and Haugepauge seem to get the recommendations brand wise. For a look over of AverMedia's lineup, http://www.aver.com/mpd/pvr150wb.html

Their new "White Box" edition of the AVerTV PVR 150 sees the software run on Vista as well as XP. There was a wait here for a Vista ready model for some time after Vista's release. http://www.aver.com/mpd/pvr150wb.html
