watching tv on your computer

hey all,
i am a broke college student that sunk all my money into my comp. as a result, i cant afford a tv at this time so i wanted to know there is a hookup for a normal cable jack that will somehow connect to my pc so i can watch on it. thanks
 
I can't remember what they are called, but to do that you need like a normal tv aerial socket on your gpu.
 
you can get TV cards for your computer than connect to a PCI slot in your computer.

I know for a fact a lot of students do this to avoid paying TV licence ;) *shouldent of said that*


You can also watch internet video's and TV stations online.

lol no, tv is free here (part of the cost of the dorm). my gpu has 2 vga slots and a slot that looks like a keyboard slot. aerial?
 
that's just a mini-din multi-output

you need a tv tuner. It will have the coaxial connector to hook up your cable. And then you need to use a tv-tuner program, and you'll be able to watch tv, and timeshift on your computer (TIVO)

Some of the nicer packages even come with remotes, and some cards even sport dual tuners for recording one show, while watching another.

Just because you want to use your monitor doesn't mean you have to play ps2 games 'on your computer.'
 
I bought an Aver media USB DVB-T TV tuner - just plug into USB 2.0 and plus arial in and it works realy great, great picture and sound and loads of chanles and a remote - :)

get a tuner with the red white yellow hook ups. then hook it up.

the card i listed hooks my xbox 360 up. and i make xbox game movies.
