hi i am trying to buy a water cooling kit for my q6600 quad core 2.4ghz. my budget is around 100- 180. what are some of the good water cooling kits would you guys suggest?

and is it hard to install a water cooling kit by myself? i heard a little mistake could lead to water leakage, is that true?

I'm not sure if I recommend this or not, the Thermaltake BigWater 735, only because I only used the block, pump/res, and rad, I got better coolant and tubing, and now I'm looking at upgrading the block, then everything else, but it was a great first watercooling starter kit, it cooled my E8400, and now it's cooling my Q9450, and if you set it up right and test it, it should be fine.

Some members will probably give you a list of individual parts, which will be better in the long run.

no, never buy thermaltake watercooling parts. their quality is not that great and it's only equivalent to a good air cooler. if you absolutely don't want to customize your parts, then get a swiftech kit.

I would honestly ask [-0MEGA-] and see if he would be willing to help you.

He knows his water kits and is one of the few on the forum that would be able to help you.

Personally unless you plan to go nuts on overclocking air cooling will do just fine.

personally i only wanted the watercooling upgrade because fans attracts too much dust! i keep sneezing and coughing nonstop near my computer. thats why i wanted to upgrade to watercooling and i might just overclock it a little, say maybe 3.0ghz?

thanks guys

Well personally id just invest in a nose clip then....I would worry more about your over all home then the computer.

I keep my house rather clean doing weekly clean ups and I only have to dust my Antec 900 PC maybe 1-2 times every 6 months. Even my old case which had 4x 120mm fans and 3x 80mm fans only needed dusting 1-2 times every 6-8 months.

3.0ghz is pretty tame for the amount of cash water cooling kits cost too...some even use stock cooling for those speeds....3.6ghz+ is more water cooling need wise.

you know that water cooling still need fans on the radiator right? unless you use a huge passively cooled reservoir, but this will be out of your price range. and a 10 degree difference in temps from water cooling isn't going to give to significant improvement on OC's. this is mainly dependent on your CPU. are you interested in custom building a kit at all? this would be the best option, but if you get one of the swiftech kits, you might save a little money

You also need fans to cool the video card, chipset, RAM, hard drives, etc.

this is a decent setup for around 150 usd:

rad: http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcqposerab1.html
block: http://www.petrastechshop.com/dfuv2uncpuwa.html
tubing: http://www.petrastechshop.com/7id5odmagepu.html
t-line(or res if you want): http://www.petrastechshop.com/1odtf1and7id.html
t-line plug: http://www.petrastechshop.com/dadentuplf1i.html
pt nuke(just mix this with plain distilled water): http://www.petrastechshop.com/pepcobi1.html
of course you'll need 3 fans for the rad, and distilled water, and i would also recommend hose clamps to prevent anything from slipping off.

ah i didn't know installing a watercooling needs so much work. if you guys would take a minute to look at my computer specification. what would be a good CPU cooler you guys would suggest?

thanks guys!!!

i already have a 25cm FAN on my the side of my case are you sure i still need another high CFM fan? and i am a little worried about the overly large size of these kind of CPU cooler, as you see i am not very good with the computers. are there any smaller COoler would be have just the same performance as the one you have suggested ? thanks!

The xigmatek S1283 has a 120mm fan, thats around 70cfm, performance is better the higher cfm the fan is. Stock its a great cooler, add a 100cfm fan to it and its an excellent cooler. Few coolers will match the s1283 in performance, as its still one of the best air coolers on the market, and the ones that beat it(barely, .2c on the OCZ vendetta 2 i believe, which is actually within the margin of error...) are larger...

The 25cm fan is your problem. My case has one, too.. it's what attracts all of the dust to your computer.

I highly recommend vacuuming it out (the fan and it's shroud) a few times (3-5, more if your house is dusty) a month to keep the dust at bay.
