Wow i just installed thermaltake bigwater and it has made a huge difference. B4 my idle temp was about 65c which i thought was a bit high, but now its about 47c, nearly 20c difference.
With this in mine i overclocked my cpu from 3ghz to 3.4ghz, i ran 3dmark and the highest temp i got was 55c.
Does this leave room 4 maybe higher than 3.4ghz, 4ghz maybe?
 
Is this your Core2?

65 is too high. Above about 65 you risk having overheating, the cores, they dont take heat as well as say, a prescott.

3 ghz is fairly easy to do with a core2

your idle temp shouldnt be abve about 55 ideally though, but bearing that in mind , 3.4 is probably likely.

65c idle! That’s way too high! I would try reseating your water block as I still think that 47c idle is still a bit high. I'm still on air with my e8500 and overclocked (4.1 on 1.33v) temps are: idle 27, load 51. You should be able to reach at least 3.8 on your e8400 with no increase in vcore. Try using Real Temp for temperatures, I and a lot of others find that the most accurate for e8xxx cpu’s.
 
thanx guys. I get my temps from nvidia monitor, usin nforce 780. I would have thought that it was quite accuate. Also i just install the water cooling and i have done it b4 and i know that it is seated correctly and that the thermal paste is good. The temps have gone down by nearly 20c so its a huge improvement.
 
you pasted it on? lol that sucks.. i use thermal compound instead, i like to be able to put a new motherboard in, or take the processor out in case a part dies.

First off, nTune, can and will make your system very unstable. Yes, just having the program installed.

Second, use Real Temp for the 45nm CPU's. :cool:
