Water Cooling

I have a socket 754 3000+. I am thinking about buying a water cooling kit so I can Overclock it. How high would I be able to take the Overclock when my stock speed is 2.0ghz?

Have you tried oc'in on stock cooling yet? I would try that and see how high you can get, you may be surprised.

Depends on a lot of stuff, how good the cooling system is that you get, and how your individual chip is at overclocking. The board and RAM should do fine. The 754 chip that you have (I think Newcastle?) is not known to be a great OCer but you should be able to et more, especially with a decent water cooling setup.

I talked to a guy couple of weeks ago that had the same setup as me and he said that he got his to oc to 2.9. I see you have your to 2.5 on a venice. You should be able to get more. I have four fans in my case. I have three 80mm fans and one 120mm fan.

I have gotten more. It's a matter that 2.5 is whats stable and safe to run on my personal chip. Stability is also an important factor, as no one likes to have jsut beaten a level then have a computer shut down before saving. And remember that mine started aat 1.8, not 2.0. I'm quite happy with how fast its running now.

well,.. again, it depends on the architecture of the chip.
the venice core is a great overclocker, but its socket 939.
if you have a newcastle,.. you wont be able to get it up to 2,9GHz i think, just because the newcastle runs unstable then. the cooling wouldnt be a problem,.. just you pc would have random restarts, or wouldnt boot windows at all ;)

My Newcastle 754 socket is currently at 2.0ghz. If I use watercooling, can I get 2.8ghz out of my cpu? Do you think I can get higher.

as said,.. heat is just 1 factor on overclocking,. i doubt you will get your cpu to 2,5GHz stable. so try overclocking on stock cooling first.

I have had it to 2.5. I dont want to go any higher because the chip gets hot. How can I check to see if I can get it higher. Just keep going higher and if my comp. doesnt crash, will it be ok.
