water cooling

My wife is com[plaining about my PC being noisy and I like to access it when I am out of town and have to leave it running which made me make the choice to get it water cooled. I have not done this before and have a few questions on the basics.

I still would have to uttilize fans to cool down the coolant right?
If yes, then what are the noise level avarage for these fans?
I also would like to put my case inside a cabinet, and maybe have the fan(if apllicable) on the outside....is this doable? Do I need to get a cooler for both CPU, my videocard and HDDs?

Basically I want no noise and put away the case....right now I have to have it sit outside to get a proper airflow.

Also, am I better of getting a new already build case water cooled system combo?

I am OK with spending $200 - $300 if needed to get a solid solution.

I appreciate any help and advice.....btw.....I AM PSYCKED UP ON BUILDING A WATERCOOLED SYSTEM.....a dream of mine, and now my wife freaking is asking me to dgo do it!!!

The coolant sits in a resevoir which im pretty sure cools down the coolant. If im not mistaken the coolent stays cool on it's own but im not to sure on that.

Not to noist.

A fan for what on the outside?

You get the water cooling resevouir and tubes but then you need the pieces to hook up to the cpu,hdd and videocard.

Those pieces I speak of are called blocks.

I think theres a :

CPU Block
North bridge block
videocard block.

The other needed parts from memory are:

Pump:pumps coolant or water around.

radiator:removes heat from water or coolant.

fans and shrouds:fans are put on the shrouds that are used to cool the radiator

resevoirs: This keeps excess water is kept.

clamps: They keep the tubing snug against the barbs I think.

tubing: Carries water or coolant around.

ive heard that water cooling is great if your overclocking, and keeps it really quiet. and it cools your computer down alot

That's correct.

Ive always been to afraid though of using water cooling for the fear of it leaking while Im on my pc and I don't notice.

Il stick with my noisy fans :D :(

Same here =) just wondering: can you put oil in it? like vegetable oil in it? oil dont conduct electricity... and how about coolant? does that conduct electricity?

I have been browsing the net and yes, there is such a thing as non-conductive coolant.

So, there will be a radiator that needs cooling with a fan or two. I saw one with a 120 mm fan @ 20Dbm which I pretty quiet.
Next issue is that the PSU has a fan too......Now mine is one huge fan which has a low rpm and is pretty quiet, so I am hoping that will be ok.

So basically I need a block for all the things I want to cool down.
How important is it to cool down the HDDs? I got 2 of them as of right now.

So a block for CPU, which comes with the kit, a block for the chipset heatsink, a special(expensive) block for the 7950 gx2, and 2 for the HDD....

Do I need to cool down the memory, or will the flow that the PSU makes do the trick you think?

Thanks for your insights guys!!

Youdont really need to cool your hard drives unless theyre hitting 40C+... just dont put them on top of each other :P if you have a few extra bucks then you can get those 30CFM hdd coolers on ebay for cheap =) from personal experience when no HDD cooler: 32C idle, 39C load, after the cooler: 29C idle, 38/37C load

I am a bit frustrated about this whole thing.....I think all I need is the Zalman reserator 2, which supports the AM2 socket. But it is pricey. I may just have to go for it.

Does any of you think I need to cool the chipset? If so, I have not been able to find a block that fits the layout for the GA-m59SLI-s5 motherboard...any suggestions?

I could by some additional memory accessories to keep them cool too?

Thanks!!!

Hm not sure about the chipset question but yes you can buy hdd coolers though not many peoples hd's get very hot anyways so you can skip on that for now.

If you wanna cool the ram they sell ram heatsinks that apparently work pretty good.

Ram heatsinks, great, thanks for that one hpi, I appreciate it.

Yeah, I have searched a bunch of other forums, and I am ready to make my purchase once I have figured out this last thing:
I have heatpipes, and don't want to add fan noise by cooling the heat pipes with, in this case, the ASUS costum heat pipe fan for when going passive on the CPU cooling. I just can't seem to find anyone who has a solution for this.
I spotted a couple of costum build cases with a similar mobo in it and all they did was to cool the vga and CPU and left the heat pipe alone. Must not need any extra cooling because the case stays cool I guess.

I can choose between 2 mobos:m59SLI-s5 or M2N32-SLI deluxe for the water cooled system...which ever is the easiest.
